SEAI Community Grants
Ireland’s solar community grants provide vital financial support to help local groups, organizations, and communities harness renewable energy through solar power installations, creating more sustainable neighborhoods across the country.
SEAI and other governmental bodies offer grants and subsidies towards improving the energy
efficiency of community buildings. If you are a member of a community group, a sporting body or a charitable organisation, get in touch and we will help you with your grant application for your
energy efficiency project.
This community scheme provides financial assistance for installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in non-domestic settings, including community centers, schools, and other public buildings.
- Eligibility: Available to businesses, farms, schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations.
- Funding: Grants are offered up to €162,600, depending on the size of the solar PV system installed.
Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland - Application Process: Applicants must engage with a registered solar PV installer, such as Solar Home, to submit the necessary documentation through the SEAI portal.
Eligible applicants for the Community Energy Grant include community and Not-for-Profit Groups, as well as partnerships between private and public sector bodies seeking funding opportunities for community-based renewable energy projects.
- Solar Panel Grants for Nonprofit Organizations: Organisations such as schools, community halls, churches, clubhouses, nursing homes, and other not-for-profit entities are eligible to apply for community funding to install solar power solutions.
- Solar Energy Partnerships between Public and Private Sectors: Projects that involve partnerships between different sectors, including collaborations between public and private sectors, residential and non-residential sectors, commercial and not-for-profit organisations, or financing entities and energy suppliers.
The main takeaway here is that to be considered for funding, projects should demonstrate community benefits, involve multiple elements (not a single focus), incorporate a mix of sustainable solutions, and justify energy savings. Solar Home can help you ensure your community-based initiative meets all the SEAI Grant eligibility criteria!
