Solar PV Changeover Switch
Power your home with your PV system during a grid outage
A solar PV changeover switch allows you to run your property during a grid outage using a combination of PV generation and battery storage by safely isolating the PV system from the grid.
How does a Solar PV Changeover Switch work?
A Solar PV Changeover Switch allows you to run the load of your property during a grid outage using PV generation and battery storage, it can supply a maximum load of up to 5kW in most cases, as limited by your inverter.
In the event of a grid outage the PV Changeover Switch is activated on the mains fuseboard which isolates the property from the grid, preventing back feed into the grid, protecting those working on power lines. It provides the function to utilise the power the solar PV system is generating and what is stored in the battery, which would otherwise not be possible.
Generator Changeover Switch: Adding A Second Changeover
A generator changeover switch allows you to switch your home’s power supply from the grid to a generator during an outage. It isolates the generator from the grid ensuring a reliable backup power supply.
