One of our latest installations of a 5.85 kWp solar PV system in Nurney, Co. Carlow includes 15 x 390W Bisol BXO Premium Range modules. We teamed this PV system with an Alpha ESS 5.7kW battery storage system. The battery storage system is a huge asset to our customers as it reduces the amount of electricity taken from the grid at night. This will enable the customer to reduce the amount of power from the grid during evening/night-time. During the wintertime, the battery storage system can take power from the grid on the night saver tariff, this power can then be used to power the house during the day, further reducing the annual electrical bill for the customer.

The solar PV system was divided between both a ground mount and a slate roof. Ground mount systems are regularly used on installations where the roof space is restricted or has a poor orientation.
The solution to this installation ensured that the customer maximised the power output from the system by utilising two locations on the homeowner’s site.

Our customer enquired about PV panels as they had an electric car which consumes an average of 15kW per 100 kilometres. We also installed the Zappi car charger on this installation. This device is PV enabled, meaning it has an Eco function. When this function is selected it takes only surplus power from the PV system that the house does not require. Therefore, this minimises or even eliminates surplus power being fed back to the national grid. We also installed an Eddi Hot Water diverter and hub on this installation. The Zappi and the Eddi are made by the same company. The hub allows the homeowner to prioritise whether the surplus power is diverted from the PV system to either the EV or the hot water cylinder.
